What Makes It Unique

A mountain ultra through Colombia's Eastern Cordillera above Bogotá.

The Course

An urban-to-mountain ultra starting from Bogotá — Colombia's capital at 2,640m altitude — and climbing into the Andean páramo, the unique high-altitude grassland ecosystem found only above 3,000m in tropical South America. The route ascends through eucalyptus plantations, native polylepis forest, and into the cloud-wrapped páramo where frailejones (giant rosette plants found nowhere else on earth) dot the landscape. The transition from an 8-million-person metropolis to genuine mountain wilderness within kilometres is the race's defining experience.

Páramo in the Mist
